About Clutter Clearing...

Clutter Clearing has been helping clutterholics and hoarders around the world WITHOUT the need for a home visit since 2001.

Clutter Clearing was set up in 2001 by Clare Baker, a former clutterholic and borderline hoarder after she discovered HOW to clear your clutter without the need for anyone to come to your home to 'help' you.

Clare has clients and members in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Europe.

Clare has been featured on BBC Breakfast TV, BBC South Today TV, on numerous BBC Radio stations, in Good Housekeeping, Harpers and Queen, Prima Magazine, Women and Home, The Daily Telegraph, The Financial Times, Saga Magazine, Housing Today and many more magazines and newspapers.

Through her online Clutter College, Clare provides all the knowledge, information and support you need to succeed with your Clutter Clearing without the need for an expensive home visit.

Clare can give you the weekly support you need to succeed either as part of a group or privately on a 1-2-1 basis, the knowledge you need to understand so you know WHY you struggle with your clutter through her workshops, and the experience of HOW to successfully clear your clutter with her short courses and LIVE classes.

If you are serious about becoming completely clutter free forever, Clare's part-time 7 Step Journey Course will takes you on the same 7 Step Journey that she discovered and started back in 2000 to successfully clear her own clutter.

If you're ready to stop struggling and start succeeding with your Clutter Clearing, then visit Clare's Help Centre to find out what help would suit you and your circumstances.

A Gentle Article You Can Read Quietly in Your Own Time

Here's a calm, simple article we think may help you understand why your clutter can feel so difficult - and why it can be hard to know where to begin.

There's nothing to follow and nothing you need to do.

Just a quiet read you can explore in your own time.

Your Clutter Iceberg

Most people only see the part of an iceberg that sits above the waterline - the visible tip.

Clutter works in a very similar way.

Here are five gentle ways the iceberg metaphor helps everything make more sense.

1. Just like an iceberg, only a small part is visible

The clutter you can see - the piles, the bags, the surfaces - is only the top layer.

Most of what makes clutter feel difficult sits quietly underneath, out of sight.

2. Like an iceberg, the hidden part is much bigger

An iceberg is mostly underwater, and clutter is similar.

There are often many unseen layers:

  • old decisions
  • unfinished tasks
  • belongings stored away
  • and things you haven’t looked at in a long time.

3. The weight comes from what’s underneath - just like an iceberg

Even when the visible clutter doesn’t look “too bad”, the hidden layers can make the whole situation feel heavier or more overwhelming.

It’s the underwater part that creates the sense of weight.

4. Icebergs shift and change shape - clutter does too

An iceberg moves with the currents, and clutter shifts over time as things get moved, added, or set aside.

This can make the overall picture feel unpredictable or hard to pin down.

5. You can’t change the top without understanding the bottom - just like an iceberg

Trying to deal only with the visible part can feel frustrating, because the hidden layers underneath keep pushing more to the surface.

Understanding the deeper layers helps the whole situation make more sense.

Why This Matters

When you realise your clutter has layers - visible and hidden - it becomes clearer why it has felt confusing or difficult.

There’s nothing wrong with you.

There is simply more going on beneath the surface than the clutter itself.

There’s nothing you need to do with this information.

Just knowing it can make things feel a little calmer.

Take Your Time.

You can read this quietly and come back to it whenever you like.

There’s no pressure to do anything next.

This page is simply here to help things make a little more sense.
